King James Bible
In the first year of his reign2 I Daniel understood1 by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish15 seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
And I prayed101 unto the LORD my God, and made my confession,101 and said,4 O Lord, the great and dreadful12 God, keeping6 the covenant and mercy to them that love6 him, and to them that keep6 his commandments;
O Lord, righteousness [belongeth] unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants6 of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, [that are] near, and [that are] far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven52 them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed1 against thee.
Yea, all Israel have transgressed1 thy law, even by departing,2 that they might not obey2 thy voice; therefore the curse is poured4 upon us, and the oath that [is] written7 in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned1 against him.
And he hath confirmed55 his words, which he spake14 against us, and against our judges6 that judged1 us, by bringing53 upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done8 as hath been done8 upon Jerusalem.
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away4 from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people [are become] a reproach to all [that are] about us.
O my God, incline54 thine ear, and hear;3 open3 thine eyes, and behold3 our desolations,6 and the city which is called8 by thy name: for we do not present56 our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.
Seventy weeks are determined8 upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish15 the transgression, and to make an end53 2856 2 of sins, and to make reconciliation15 for iniquity, and to bring in53 everlasting righteousness, and to seal up2 the vision and prophecy, and to anoint2 the most Holy.
Know4 therefore and understand,55 [that] from the going forth of the commandment to restore53 and to build2 Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince [shall be] seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built8 again,4 and the wall, even in troublous times.
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off,11 but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come6 shall destroy55 the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be] with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations6 are determined.12
And he shall confirm52 the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,55 and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate,35 even until the consummation, and that determined12 shall be poured4 upon the desolate.6
