A Song of degrees of David. If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;4
If [it had not been] the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up2 against us:
Then they had swallowed us up1 quick, when their wrath was kindled2 against us:
Then the waters had overwhelmed1 us, the stream had gone over1 our soul:
Then the proud waters had gone over1 our soul.
Blessed7 [be] the LORD, who hath not given1 us [as] a prey to their teeth.
Our soul is escaped8 as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers:6 the snare is broken,8 and we are escaped.8
Our help [is] in the name of the LORD, who made6 heaven and earth.
