The holidays have come and gone once again. There are some who went through the holidays in a jubilant elation, while others suffered through them in a melancholy gloom. Some were ecstatic in the exchange of gifts at Christmas, some went through the motions in a blissless dolor. New Year’s resolutions were made, some to be kept by diligent hearts, others to be broken as quickly as the words were spoken. Some look forward to the new year with fearful trepidation, others with undaunted excitement.
As for me, I had a wonderous Christmas and I face the new year with assured confidence. I want to thank not only my family for the marvelous gifts, but also all the special people who know my love of chocolate and amply supplied me with the exquisite delicacy. But most of all I want to thank my God for giving not only me, but also all of mankind the most precious gift of all, Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)".
Not only did God the Father give us His Son as a propitiation for our sins, He also by His grace gave us faith to believe in His Son. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. (Eph. 2:8)".
So yes, I face the new year thankful for Jesus Christ, and with assured confidence. I face the new year with assured confidence for I know that God’s gift of faith to me did not stop with belief in Jesus Christ as my Lord. That faith within me continues to grow. With the faith that God has given me, I know that; "All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose. (Rms. 8:28)". But that’s not all either! Being born again means that Jesus Christ lives within me. So that means that I also have the faith of Christ within me. And the Lord never changes. "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Heb. 13:8)".
Since the Lord Jesus is living within me, and He never changes, then all of the things which He did as written in the Bible, He is still doing today. And He is doing them inside of me! Praise God! Halleluiah! Yes, Yes, Yes, I can face the new year and each new day with assured confidence!
You can also have this same assured confidence. Receive the gift of God, it is yours free for the taking (The only catch is that you have to receive it. He can not give it to you if you will not receive it.). Confess your faith in Jesus Christ, and ask Him to come live in your heart.
There are many churches in and around where ever you live, I am sure that you can find one that you like. Salvation only comes by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Always remember: "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) ."
If you enter a church that preaches anything other than Jesus, flee that church, pray for them as you are fleeing, but flee as quickly as possible.
Praise God! Halleluiah! Amen!
P.S. No one knows when the Lord Jesus is going to come again, but just look around, it’s got to be soon.
